The San Diego Historical Miniature Wargamers club (SDHMWG) are a jovial bunch who enjoy the fine hobby of miniature wargaming, modelling, and painting. The club’s goal is to host a convention worthy game every week at our game night.
We are a play-it-painted only club. No ghost armies, or figures in varying states of completion, are EVER allowed. Just fully painted and based miniatures to the best of your ability.

Your entry to an immersive world of wargaming….
While most of our battles are of the historical nature, we do stray to Science Fiction and Fantasy from time to time.
We play in a variety of scales and rulesets; we hold regular battles on land, in the air, and on the sea. Some examples of games the club runs are Lion Rampant, Pikeman’s Lament, Rebels & Patriots, Congo, Blue Max, and Legends of the Old West!
On any given night, you might witness desperate battles between Crusaders and Mutatawwi’a; or gladiatorial combat; or knights of the skies, in Canvas Eagles, waging a dance of death. Perhaps you might embrace your inner Horatio Nelson, fighting your flagship to victory.

Want to Play?
For the majority of our games, you can just show up with a good attitude and play straight away. Gamemasters (GMs) that sponsor the weekly games will usually supply all the terrain needed for play. We even have a club dice box that provides dice and measuring tools to players.
In most cases, between the GM and club members, we have sufficient miniatures to loan for whatever game is being played that night.
To participate, please RSVP to the event of your choice (on our Facebook page) before the day of the event if possible so that the GM knows how many players to expect. There are times where there is a cap for attendance, although we always do our best to accommodate all players, and so far have never turned anyone away.
