Net guy. The John Wick of the Roman Colosseum!
Grab that gladius, hitch up your subligaculum, thrown down the denarii and listen to the Roman Mills Lane declare “Lets ‘adepto super eam!!!” It was Tuesday night Fight Night in the Game Empire colosseum using Ludus Gladiatorius rules hosted by El Presidente himself.
Players took on the role of a dominus, selecting a couple of gladiators to make up their ludus for the night. Play began with a warm-up 2v2 and 1v1 match, while several gladiators suffered the Emperor’s Wrath and were knocked out of commission, most losers just needed a breather for a bit.
A new player, Alex, arrived and quickly fit in for match #2 - a free-for-all in the big arena. The gladiatrix proved one tough b*#^h, Pat’s rolling took out several competitors and much blood was spilt on the sands of the arena.
All this led to the final match of the night - another free-for-all but this time in the smaller arena, where there was far less room to hide. Steve quickly made it known how much he hated “Net Guy” - Wade’s retiarius. Net Guy was singled out for defeat by the other gladiators, spurred on by Steve, who ran him down and skewered him - no sanctuary in the Continental for this gladiator. One by one, gladiators fell, until there remained only an epic slugfest between Steve and BIll. Round after round, strike after strike, parry after parry.
The fatigued duo rolled… and rolled… and rolled some more, before Bill finally struck home with enough force to end the fight. The crowd cheered, bets were won (and lost), and the gladiators retreated for some well earned posca.
A fantastic night of gladiatorial combat. If you missed it, don’t worry - just attend Advance! 2022 and you’ll get a chance to play for yourself. Yes, El Presidente is running it at the convention, for what we do in Life echoes in eternity!!!!
